Level 2 Award
Health and Safety in the Workplace (RQF)
The most valuable asset of any company is the employee. Accordingly, business management, no matter how large or small, has both moral and legal responsibilities to assure the health and safety of those employed by any company as well as non-employees.

The Health and Safety at Work Act of 1974 (HASWA) identifies the responsibilities of employers (as well as employees or contractors) of the duties required for maintaining compliance with this Act of Parliament.

This is an elementary course intended to provide individuals with basic information contained within HASWA as well as various principles of occupational safety and health.

Intended Audience
The Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace is a nationally recognised and regulated qualification designed to provide learners with an increased awareness of health and safety within the workplace. This course is particularly useful for businesses with low to moderate levels of health and safety risks (yet with multiple employees and/or departments) who desire to have “safety assistants” within the organization, or simply desire a more proactive safety environment. Additionally, businesses having staff who have achieved this qualification may be eligible for insurance premium reductions.

This course is not intended to train individuals responsible for health and safety in work settings deemed to have moderate to high risk potential.
Course Overview
During this one-day course, learners develop a more detailed understanding of health and safety in the workplace in subjects including (but not limited to): legal requirements; identifying workplace hazards; risk assessment; risk control hierarchy, and documentation/reporting requirements.
Upon successful completion of this course, individuals should be competent to act as safety assistants in most low risk work environments.
Assessment Methods
One Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) theory assessment is conducted at the end of the course, and continuous formative assessment throughout the course.

A failure to successfully complete this course seldom occurs, and every effort is made by each instructor to assure a successful understanding of the course material is achieved. However, if a student fails to successfully complete any module of the course, remediation is offered.
