Level 2 Award
Fire Safety (RQF)
Fire safety law changed in October 2006 with the introduction of the regulatory reform (Fire Safety) Order of 2005. This reform order, enforced by the HSE, sets the guidelines for business requirements for fire safety law. These guidelines are to include all appropriate fire safety precautions unique to any business’s specific work environment no matter how large or small the risks are deemed to be. Compliance with this order is particularly valuable to larger organisations, or businesses with a heightened risk of fire such as commercial kitchens, motorised commercial vessels, or any working environment where combustibles or explosives are present.

Intended Audience
The Level 2 Award in Fire Safety is a nationally recognised and regulated qualification designed to provide general fire safety knowledge suitable for anyone who has responsibility for fire safety within the work setting such as fire wardens or workplace emergency first responders.
This course is also an ideal qualification to compliment general health and safety training as well as first aid training for the workplace especially where the risk of fire is higher than that of low.
Course Overview
The Level 2 Award in Fire Safety is a course conducted over a full-day period where students can build on their knowledge of general fire safety as well as fire causation and control mechanisms intended to prevent an array of fires. Students are also taught principles of fire safety management intended for at-work fire wardens, as well as a review of appropriate use of portable fire-fighting equipment.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will have met the fire safety training recommendations set by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for work environments with a low to moderate risk of fire.

Assessment Methods
One theory assessment (consisting of multiple-choice questions) is conducted at the end of the course with continuous formative assessment throughout the course.

A failure to successfully complete the course seldom occurs, and every effort is made by each instructor to assure a successful understanding of the course material is achieved. However, if a student fails to successfully complete any module of the course, remediation is offered.
